• Faction Bases

Since the Genesis expansion (March 2, 2011) level 3 factions can create their very own instanced Faction Bases.

Once created, an NPC will serve to teleport faction members into their base of operations.

Each Faction Base is set up with five separate wings within the structure. These wings need to be constructed and upgraded by the Faction Leader as well as his or her members via coins, materials, and star level. Members of a faction will be able to enjoy exclusive power-ups and services, have access to special gear, and can take extra quests that provide great rewards and faction contributions. You can upgrade the structures in the faction base to get better and more services.

The faction base is also the battlefield for Faction Siege Battles.

You can access the Faction Base by speaking with the Faction Base Manager in Archosaur (573 660), Etherblade (440,868), City of Plume (337 430), City of Lost (248,648), and Raging Tides (656,133).

    Creating a Faction Base

A faction should first activate its base, and then upgrade it to provide services to the members. The base is activated at the Faction Base Manager (573 660).

    Conditions:
    1) Faction reaches a level 3.
    2) Pay some fees and items;
    20 Ten Million Big Notes
    500 Mysterious Chips
    500 Warsong Emblems
    2000 Ultimate Substances

    Faction Base Stats

    1. Level
The faction base can be upgraded by collecting Construction points. These are gained through the members' contributions. They can be donated at the Faction Manager located in the Hall of Loyalty to give the base more EXP. These donated points are separate from your spending points. Donated construction points will not affect your contribution points.

    2. Health
This value ranks the activeness of members (daily total Contribution income). It will shrink day by day. If the shrinking rate is higher than the increasing rate, as the number reaches 0, the base will be destroyed.

    3. Faction Materials
Materials can be used to construct or upgrade faction structures. Members can complete quests taken from Hall of Loyalty to acquire faction materials. Members can only get materials for their own race:

    Human - Ethersteel
    Untamed - Lost Sand
    Winged Elf - Plume Puff
    Tideborn - Raging Flask
    Earthguard - Tellus Wood

Materials can also be gained by destroying enemy structures.

    4. Decommission
Faction Base structures can be destroyed in faction base battles. If the Health of your faction base reaches zero, it will be decommissioned.

You can check your faction base stats at the Faction Base Manager.

    Faction Structures

The features of a faction base include providing quest, selling gears, items, and potions, providing helpful buffs and being the battlefield.

The features are provided by structures. The structures of a faction base include:

    Hall of Loyalty (Central Wing)

Where you'll find Faction-centric quests. These quests consist of 1 Daily Faction Exam Room Quest, and 2 Mob Quests (rewards will increase upon leveling wing); each rewarding Materials depending on your race, Faction Contribution and Construction Points. You will only get one attempt to answer the Exam Question correctly. Your answer must be submitted within 10 minutes in order to receive credit.

As the Hall of Loyalty wing increases, Faction Exam Questions and Answers difficulty level increases, as well as the rewards. However; mob difficulty remains the same, but rewards increased. From Monolith level 3 on you gain access to the Wandering Artist daily faction quest which gives 150 faction contribution.

    Upgrading Faction Structures

Upon the opening of a faction base, it will have 5 grade one structures. If a structure is destroyed in battles, it can be rebuilt.

    Conditions:
    1) There can only be one structure of a same type.
    2) Costs some guild funds and materials.
    3) It costs some time to construct.

Faction structures can also be upgraded to provide more services.

    Conditions:
    1) Upgrade corresponding technologies.
    2) It costs some money and materials.
    3) The upgrade will be done after some time.
    4) Each structure can be upgraded up to level 8. (Lowest is level 1)

You can use more funds and materials to accelerate the construction. To do this, you can toggle the + / - symbols to adjust the speed of the construction before pressing confirm. You cannot go back to change the speed of the building after it has begun.

To upgrade a structure, the faction leader must have the required coin in their inventory at the time.

    Upgrading structures.png

"Cosmos" describes the upgrade tree for the faction base structures. You must upgrade a certain technology in the Cosmos before you can upgrade or construct corresponding structure.

    Faction cosmos.png

    Cosmos Upgrades and Material Costs:
    1. Cosmos Upgrades Functions:

    1) Hall of Loyalty (kirin):
    a) Enhances base defenses.
    b) Provides increased rewards from quests (for members to gain contributions and materials).
    2) Manor of Justice (tortoise):
    a) Provides more training quests.
    3) Alchemy Labs (tiger):
    a) Enhances potion sales, buffs, and tomes.
    4) Heavenly Vault (phoenix):
    a) Provides more exchanges services.
    5) Armory (dragon):
    a) Provides more Ranked gears, weapons and bless boxes.

    2. Tech Point Costs:
You need to spend Tech Points to upgrade base structures. Every time the base levels up it gains 1 tech point. At level 10 the base will start to get 2 points for every level up. The cost to upgrade in tech points goes up with higher structure levels.

    Faction Siege Battles

This was a feature originally planned to be released with faction bases. These battles would involve 40 combatants on either side so would be half the size of Territory Wars. The objective for the attacking team would be to destroy the defending team's base structures and gain faction base material. After a long delay this feature has officially beencanceled.

    Nine Trials

See also: forum thread 9 Trials Guide

With the November 2, 2011 update, the Nine Trials were added to the bases. After a marshal or above has activated the quest, up to 100 level 80+ characters with at least 100 contribution may enter and participate in this difficult contest. You have up to a week to complete before the trials are automatically reset each Wednesday; in the event you complete them before that, they can be reset at a cost of 1,000,000 coins and done again (limit of 3 times per week.) If you fail a trial, you have to start that trial over from the start.

    Blessing of the Gods

This is buff you may buy to use during the trials for 10,000 coin and some contribution, and greatly increases your mana recovery and doubles your attack power with skills (but not auto-attack.) It expires when you die or leave the base.

    1. Trial of Balance

The first trial, the trial of balance, involves balancing the elements. Each element's room has a number of non-aggressive elementals. When one elemental is killed, another is spawned in the next element's room clockwise around (metal->water->wood->fire->earth->metal.) All elementals are [?] level with over 50 million HP. When the elements are balanced, a boss is spawned.

Technique: Concentrate on one mob at a time, one room at a time. Have someone calculate what the balance point is, and keep track of how many in which rooms you need to kill. Do not use any AoEs (other than Chromatic Healing Beam), attack AoEs will get you killed by attracting the attention of other mobs, and BB it seems will eventually get aggro from non-attacked mobs. Sage Soul Degeneration will greatly speed kills.

Note: The number of mobs in the different elements takes some time to stabilize after the trial is started. Don't race in and start killing before they have stabilized at a total divisible by 5, or you will end up with a glitched trial that can't be completed easily.

Metal ElementalsThese have physical and magical AoEs, and a lightning attack. One of the harder to defeat elementals because of the frequent AoEs.
Water ElementalsThese have a water attack and a (rarely used) AoE.
Wood ElementalsThese have a ranged (physical?) attack and AoE poison.
Fire ElementalsThese have an AoE seal. Possibly the easiest element to do.
Earth ElementalsThese have an AoE mana drain, single target damage amp and a reflect buff. Assassins beware! Standing at maximum melee range will keep you safe from reflect 90% of the time. Reflect may be purged.

    2. Trial of Defense

The Trial of Defense involves erecting defenses to kill a train of mobs that walk through the rooms.

    3. Trial of Towers

The Trial of Towers tasks you to defend 3 towers and their guards from wave after wave of enemy attacks.

    4. Trial of Duty

The Trial of Duty involves defending an NPC from 4 totems that surround it. Some of the totems are immune to magic damage while some are immune to physical damage so you need a good mix of classes and high DPS.

    5. Trial of Elements

The Trial of Elements is similar to the Trial of Balance in that there are 5 different elemental rooms. The health of the rooms is continuously dropping and you have to raise them all up to above 100 to summon totems that defend against the boss' most powerful AoEs. In order to summon the boss, towers must be killed in a particular order to open all the eyes.

    6. Trial of Eternity

The Trial of Eternity centers around a large collection quest. You are tasked with assembling a complete manuscript from various fragments scattered around the stage.

    7. Trial of Sacrifice

The Trial of Sacrifice tasks you to kill a certain a certain number of mobs. The mobs spawn in groups and run around the perimeter of a circular room. They have no attack but they do have a lot of HP.

    8. Trial of Exodus

The Trial of Exodus involves freeing NPCs that are trapped in a jail and escorting them to safety.

    9. Trial of Salvation

In the Trial of Salvation, wave after wave of enemy forces crash into your party. The enemies all have very large AoEs which can quickly wipe out a faction if they aren't killed fast enough. To defend against them you can erect large angels that can soak up a lot of damage. You have to kill a certain number in a limited time to summon the boss. Check out this video for what it's like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GX3bd9jb2KQ
